Massage Therapy in Germantown

An Ideal Complement to Chiropractic or a Stand-Alone Therapy

Massage has been used for thousands of years for pain relief, relaxation promotion and more. Throughout the years, different styles and techniques have been developed to address specific systemic issues. Massage therapy is the practice of manipulating muscles, ligaments and tendons using the hands and fingers and, in some instances, mechanical devices, to relieve stress on the body.

Many people don’t think of massage as medical care—but they should. Massage therapy is a proven and effective method of health care focused on soft tissue mobilization to break up adhesions in muscles, and improve body mechanics and function. Including non-invasive massage therapy in your health journey may help you achieve a better health outcome.

Massage Therapy and Chiropractic Working Together

Did you know the muscle system works closely with the skeletal system, and vice versa? Each system cannot function optimally without the strength of the other. When the skeletal system is compromised, it affects the function of the muscles, due to both structural and neurological impairments.

The body’s muscular system develops compensation patterns in response to these misalignments. While these may work for a short period, eventually, they will contribute to more damage to the affected tissues, resulting in a rigid and limited structure.

Detailed and specific massage therapy techniques locate muscles that are working more than they should, as well as release any chronically short muscles. This allows the mechanical structure to return to a more functional state.
